CM Punk To Seth Rollins: ‘You Wouldn’t Be Here If It Wasn’t For Me’

Monday Night Raw was taped from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, and although the show was decent, the promo between CM Punk and Seth Rollins went levels above than expected.

Rollins got the crowd hot with it being the last RAW on the USA Network before they head over to Netflix on January 6. One of the matches booked as the main event is Rollins vs. Punk, and Rollins was quick to promote the match, showing how much it means for him to finally get face-to-face with Punk. Then Punk’s music hit, and he quickly made it to the ring.

Punk wasted no time with the low blows as he asked Rollins if “The Man (Becky Lynch-real real-life wife of Rollins) took her ball and went home.” Lynch has been off TV for a while as she nurses their child at home. The gloves were definitely off in this promo, and you can tell that the real-life heat between the two wrestlers made its way into the segment. Rollins would return fire by saying, “You took a big chunk of change to work for the competition and how did that work out for you?” That was a gut punch, as Rollins referred to Punk’s time at AEW, which abruptly came to an end. He knew that would not only sting Punk but get a huge reaction from the crowd, which it did.

Punk, clearly pissed off, said, “You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for me. I loved the place I worked. I just hated the guy in charge and he loved you.” This was in reference to his first run with WWE, where he had issues with Vince McMahon. It was no secret that Triple H was high on Rollins at the time, so Punk made sure to throw that little inside baseball jab at Rollins.

The crowd was fully invested at this point as Rollins ended the promo by calling Punk a cancer and saying that he would finish him on January 6 in LA. The segment went to black on TV with both men burning a hole through each other with a stare. While John Cena and others have already been announced as part of the RAW on Netflix debut, this matchup between Rollins & Punk is what everyone is talking about and rightfully so.

The WWE looks as though they do not want to stretch this feud out too much longer, so they are going all in now with the hopes of a big payoff on RAW. We are all for this match, and the only thing that could ruin this feud is an ending that doesn’t align with the expectations of the story. Can it be January 6 already?
