Dalton Smith (16-0, 12 KOs) wanted to make a statement against Jose Zepeda (37-5, 28 KOs) and he did exactly that. Smith landed a huge right hook to Zepeda’s body, leading to the fight’s end as Zepeda could not beat the ten count in the fifth round.

In the first round, Zepeda dictated the pace with his right jab while Smith kept moving around the ring and not throwing many punches. Zepeda used his feints in the second round to land two big straight left hands down the middle. Smith reset and landed a 1-2 down the middle, which stunned Zepeda for a few seconds.
Although Smith was much more confident throwing his punches, Zepeda hurt Smith a little towards the end of the third round. Smith having his hands down led to Zepeda landing some big shots. Smith found success with the straight right hand in the fourth round, as he used it when jumping in. Zepeda tried to counterpunch, but he seemed too slow to do it.

Smith feinted and looked for an opening, which was the right hand to the body, and after it landed, Zepeda took a knee and was in excruciating pain, which could be seen from the veins bulging from his neck. The referee counted to ten, and Zepeda never attempted to get up.
After the fight, Smith called out Adam Azim (11-0, 8 KOs), with whom he has a domestic rivalry. Eddie Hearn would grab the mic and say, “I dare you (Adam Azim) to fight Dalton Smith.” Whatever Smith does next, he has added some new fans with today’s performance.
