WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) stepped on the scale this morning behind closed doors and weighed in at 166.4 pounds. The contracted weight for his fight against Jose Benavidez Jr. (28-2-1, 19 KOs) was 163 pounds at Charlo’s request. This adds another layer of drama to a middleweight champion who has been out of the ring for over two years.

Regarding the main event, both fighters came in under the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds. Both David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) and Demetrius Andrade (32-0,19 KOs) were in good spirits and showed some sportsmanship after their stare-down.
