What is next for Dina Thorslund?

Thorslund became the women’s undisputed bantamweight titleholder, defeating Cherneka Johnson at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday.

The win vaults her back to the top of the division, where she has rightfully belonged for some time. Thorslund was supposed to fight last July on an MVP card, but got pregnant and, sadly, had a miscarriage. Her long-overdue U.S. debut was a message to all who doubted her that the 32-year-old from Denmark, with a perfect 25-0 (9 KOs) record, hasn’t lost a step.

Let’s look at the most and least interesting future opponents for him.

Ellie Scotney

Why: Undisputed vs. undisputed

It appears Scotney might be going in a different direction, but a fight between Thorslund and Scotney could be as exciting for me as a Terence Crawford versus Errol Spence Jr. matchup. It is two of the best of their era, facing off. Hopefully, we get that one before it is all said and done.

Francesca Hennessy

Why: Up-and-comer

People are divided on how good Hennessy is, but she has a good record. She has won her fair share of fights and has a following. Making a fight with one of the era’s best would be something, right?

Rianna Rios

Why: The best fighter not mentioned

Rios has always been good, a top amateur and now a top pro. She will just have to take on a tough fight one day; there is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Why not face Thorslund, especially given her Texas ties and MVP’s holding plenty of cards in the Lone Star State.

Shera Mae Patricio

Why: The most promising prospect

It is only a matter of time before Patricio becomes one of the best in the world. That time is creeping closer. It might be a bit too soon, but Patricio is on the verge of fighting Thorslund sooner than one might think.

Gabriela Fundora

Why: One can dream

It makes no sense at all. Fundora has never fought at this weight, but imagine if it did. How cool would that be? How exciting would that be? That is why I included it.
