The mismatched Misfits showdown between Eddie Hall (0-1) and Tommy Fury (11-0, 4 KOs) is barely a day away. But according to Hall, he isn’t just looking to go to Clobber Town. The former strongman revealed that he was planning on using both his fists and his brain equally on fight night.

In a conversation with ESPN, Hall admitted that he enjoys the thrill of being inside the ring.

“Fighting is one of the most alpha male sports out there. We’re all drawn to it in some respect. We’re all drawn to find out who is the better man and that’s what draws me to it because I’m intrigued. That’s what took me to the fight with Thor and ultimately what led me back here today. I love the thrill of getting in a ring and finding out who’s the better man,” he said.

Hall enters the fight as a massive underdog. Fury is an undefeated professional boxer with 11 wins and years of ring experience, while Hall’s only previous boxing bout ended in a defeat to Hafthor Björnsson. Most observers expect Fury’s superior footwork, jab, conditioning, and technical ability to allow him to control the fight across the scheduled six two-minute rounds. Hall’s best chance is to turn the contest into a firefight early and land a fight-changing punch before Fury can establish his rhythm.

In fact, Hall has openly acknowledged that he cannot outbox Fury in a technical contest. Instead, he has emphasized using his fight IQ to create openings for his explosive power rather than chasing a quicker, more skilled boxer.

“I feel like I have to treat this as a boxing fight because that’s how Tommy is going to treat it,” he said. “I think to come out windmilling would be a big mistake. I’ve got to use some IQ. There are six rounds, not one. Just be prepared to go the distance.”

“Reliant on His Cardio”

Meanwhile, it looks like Hall is well aware of what his opponent’s strengths and game plan will be, even going so far as to compare him to his (Fury’s) former opponent, Jake Paul.

“I think Tommy’s going to be heavily reliant on his cardio. Get in, hit, get out, score points. A bit like the Jake Paul fight. Jump in, bang away, then get the f*ck out the way. That’s probably the most sensible thing for Tommy to do, and I think that will be the game plan,” he said.
