Francis Ngannou Eyes Potential Anthony Joshua & Deontay Wilder Fights

Former UFC superstar Francis Ngannou recently transitioned to professional boxing with a showdown against the reigning godfather of the heavyweight division, Tyson Fury. While he lost to Fury, it looks like Ngannou is eyeing potential fights in the division. In fact, he recently revealed that he is open to fights with Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Ngannou was recently on the Club Shay Shay podcast hosted by Shannon Sharpe. In conversation, Sharpe mentioned that Wilder had fought Fury three times previously and asked Ngannou if he’d be willing to fight the ‘Bronze Bomber.’

“Of course, even before this Tyson(Fury) fight, we were talking with him. Like, he’s also willing to fight me in MMA,”Ngannou replied.

This response surprised Sharpe, who asked him if he would actually get into the octagon with Wilder. Ngannou nodded in agreement and said that if Wilder were willing to commit to MMA, he’d put money on him. However, he added that he was thinking of a mixed-rules fight.

“Honestly, it’s going to be too hard for him if it’s not mixed rules,” he said.

Ngannou further mentioned that fighters needed to be proficient in a few skills rather than focusing on one to become successful in combat sports.

Francis Ngannou would let Anthony Joshua pick his poison

Sharpe then asked Ngannou if he was interested in fighting Anthony Joshua. Moreover, he also mentioned that Joshua had vowed to knock Ngannou out.

“Well, even Tyson Fury said the same thing. And Tyson Fury is better than Anthony Joshua. What do I care about what people say,” Ngannou responded.

He further added that he has been in the game for a considerable amount of time and has seen a lot. Ngannou then took a dig at Joshua by saying that he knows the difference between people who want to do stuff and are actually capable of doing it.

Ngannou also mentioned that while Joshua is better off fighting him in boxing, he’d let him pick the sport.

“Anything that he wants. Ring or octagon. The good thing is I’m the one that can go everywhere comfortably,” he said.

It certainly looks like Ngannou is on a mission to show that he can rule the heavyweight division, regardless of the sport.
