Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) is undoubtedly a skilled athlete and a clever businessman. On the other hand, his statements in interviews have often pushed the champ into the deepest ravines of controversy. In fact, he recently drew the ire of hip hop legend Curtis James Jackson, AKA 50 Cent, for his remarks on rapper P. Diddy’s sexual assault allegations.

Mayweather was a guest on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ with NFL stars Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder. Diddy was recently accused of sexual assault by four women, including singer and former girlfriend Cassandra Ventura. In conversation, ‘TBE’ refused to condemn Diddy for his actions.

“I’m not gonna speak bad about P. Diddy ’cause he still a Black man. Mistakes happen,” he said. “And I can’t say if it is or not a mistake, but things happen in life. And P. Diddy’s business is P. Diddy’s business.”

Mayweather mentioned that it is not anybody’s business to defame Diddy on the internet or to kick him when he is down. “My take on it is: it’s not my business. I don’t think it’s right at all, and I don’t condone it,” he said. “Even if that happened to my daughter, I would be hurt, but that’s a choice that my daughter made.”

Mayweather’s statement received immense backlash from viewers. Many even called him out for his blunt statement on the sensitive issue.

50 Cent shared the snippet on Instagram and proceeded to call him out for what he said. “They didn’t even ask him about this champ. Is you stupid, or is you dumb? Get me the f*ck out ya head, you sound like a hater,” 50 Cent wrote in the caption.

Floyd Mayweather shares a laugh with Rick Ross

Mayweather’s statements, however, have not gotten him in trouble with the other members of the hip-hop community.

He was seen (post the podcast) sharing a laugh with hip hop mogul Rick Ross outside Playa Miami. Interestingly, the duo couldn’t stop shaking hands throughout the video. This scene even surprised many fans, who even made it a point to highlight there was “a lot of hand-holding.”
