Add FightsATW on GoogleLucha Libre AAA‘s ‘Verano de Escandalo’ continued in its third week as we move closer to finalizing the fatal four-way to crown a new Latin American champion for the promotion. The fatal four-way takes place at TripleMania 34, but the triple threat qualifiers continued in tonight’s action at the Arena San Marcos in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Rey Mysterio Jr., AAA‘s GM, made waves for the promotion when he grabbed Roman Reigns for a chat just before Monday Night RAW faded to black. In the days ahead, AAA would end up stealing the headlines as we learned that a tournament would take place to decide the “OTC’s” opponent for Monday Night RAW in Mexico at the Arena CDMX. A video package of Rey explaining the booking starts on this week’s MNR as negotiated with Adam Pearce (GM of RAW).
Dom Gets Dirty
Wearing a shirt with his ‘father’ Eddie holding the face of Dom as a child during the infamous ‘custody storyline’ that pitted the two men that would define his future wrestling style against each other. He gave reasons for his recent moves, including turning on El Grande Americano, and, of course, the kid blamed everything on his ‘daddy issues.’
He claimed that he never lied to Grande Americano about joining the Dogs at the time, and he also said that the challenger turned his back first by shaking hands with his father. He also blamed the AAA brass for his decision to affiliate with Ronaldo and company, saying that the decision to make Rey the GM changed things for him.
The segment ended when Liv Morgan walked into the room and stared down the interviewer, Andrea, who also happens to be El Grande Americano’s girlfriend—heavily featured during the Mask V Mask storyline earlier this year. It looks like it is time for a time-honored tradition in all Novelas and Spanish stories—the women getting involved and causing twice as much mayhem as expected.
Lady Flammer(c) vs. Lady Shani vs. La Catalina—Triple Threat Match; AAA Reina de Reinas Championship
The champ was pushed to the limit in this match, but it was La Catalina that shined the brightest in this one with the crowd behind her every move. The back-and-forth action led to some very near falls, but Shani hindered her opponents’ efforts. Lady Flammer was able to retain in a very close match.
The finale had Catalina take out the champ on the outside with a spear, and that left Shani and Catalina to duke it out in the ring. However, the champ managed to sneak the win after Shani and Catalina took each other to the limit.
El Fiscal vs. Psycho Clown vs. Cruz Del Toro—Triple Threat Match; AAA Latin American Title Qualifier for TM34 4-Way
The three Latin American title hopefuls made their way to the ring for incredible lucha action as the LWO’s Cruz Del Toro worked heel in the match while Psycho Clown raked in all of the admiration from fans. Psycho Climber had the match well in hand after landing a ‘psycho climber’ on Fiscality on the ring apron.
Psycho Clown was taken out of the match, however, on the back of a ‘nameless’ debut from a giant masked man that came from the crowd.
Noisy Boy vs. Jack Cartwheel—Cruiserweight Division
Jack Cartwheel was successful in singles action tonight as he defeated Noisy Boy in what will certainly be a win that garners him favor with the rankings committee. Cartwheel continues to get over with audiences, both online and in front of a live audience, thanks to his fresh look and athletic ability. He is still green, but opponents like Noisy Boy, who has been in and out of AAA throughout the years, can help him learn as he elevates.
Perros del Mal used the post-match to send a message by beating down the winner. Daga grabbed the mic and called for his dogs in the building, and the crowd’s reaction shows the strength of this anti-authority faction.
Daga then brought out Damian 666, one of the ‘OG’ Perros del Mal and a legend in the circles of lucha libre. Damian 666 terrorized pro wrestlers worldwide with his unique brand of pain and face paint. The uber heel grabbed the mic to remind fans that “God forgives, the Dogs don’t.” The segment ended there, and having the backing of the ‘OG’ will be tough to beat, but it would be an even more powerful message if they put him through a table on the ‘go-home’ episode before TripleMania XXXIV.
