O’Shaquie Foster, in front of his home crowd in Houston, TX, scored a majority decision over Raymond Ford in a tightly contested fight, live on DAZN.

Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) and Ford (18-2-1, 8 KOs) seemed to alternate rounds until the 11th and 12th, when Foster dominated, leading to his decision victory. The judges saw this one 114-114, 118-110, and 116-112 for Foster, who retained his WBC super featherweight title. After the fight, Shakur Stevenson stepped into the ring and went back and forth verbally with Foster, who was in attendance. Foster wants to face Stevenson next, but more than likely, the next fight will be a unification at 130 pounds.

Winner Announcement.

In the opening round, there were plenty of feints from both fighters. There wasn’t much going on as both were trying to gauge distance. With 20 seconds remaining, Foster threw Ford out of the ring in what was a bizarre moment in the fight.

Ford’s speed was on full display in the second round, as his 1-2 combinations down the middle pierced Foster’s defense. Ford was also countering well as Foster appeared to be a second too slow to react to the punches coming at him. Although Foster wasn’t hurt at all in the round, Ford was in control. Foster came roaring back in the third round, wasting no time in establishing a 1-2 combination down the middle of his own. When clinched on the inside, Foster would spin Ford around, preventing Ford’s feet from setting.

In the fourth round, Ford came back behind his right jab and was landing his combinations while making Foster miss with his. It was a competitive round that could have gone either way. Foster began incorporating his uppercut and a check right hand that was landing and forcing Ford to reset. Ford used good movement and creative combinations to land, but Foster was in complete control throughout the round.

In the sixth round, Ford kept his hands down and threw fewer combinations than in previous rounds, as if he were taking a breather. Foster was on the front foot, jabbing his way in, but he would land on Ford’s shoulders and arms. Both fighters had a hard time landing cleanly throughout the round.

From the very start of the seventh round, Foster was in total control. There were moments in the round when Ford covered up, and Foster was teeing off on him. Ford made some slick foot adjustments throughout the round, but wasn’t able to use them to land his offense. Foster continued his dominance through the eighth round as Ford began to slow down and threw fewer punches. When Ford did have a power spurt, he landed a straight left hand, which Foster acknowledged as a good shot by smiling.

Foster continued his dominance in the ninth round, but in the tenth, Ford came back strong, as he had Foster buzzed by a straight left that landed midway through the round. Ford’s body attack

led to the big shot on Foster’s head, which quickly shifted the momentum back to Ford.

In the 11th round, Foster hurt Ford with a straight right hand. Ford leaned on the ropes with the high guard, trying to weather the storm. Ford tried to come back with a flurry at the end of the round, but none of them landed cleanly. Foster was in complete control of the last round and finished strongly as Ford had no answer for his offense.

Charlie Sheehy (13-0, 8 KOs) scored an impressive ninth-round TKO over Nike Theran (20-3, 14 KOs). Sheehy was dominating throughout the fight, and right before the referee stepped in, he landed a clean overhand right that sent Theran to the canvas. The referee was ready to stop the fight before the knockdown, but once Theran went down, he didn’t hesitate to wave it off.

Omari Jones (7-0, 4 KOs) scored a unanimous decision (80-71 x 3) over Diego Zuniga (9-1, 6 KOs). Although it was a dominant effort by Jones, there was still much to be desired from the blue-chip prospect.

Javon Woodard Jr. (17-2, 15 KOs) scored an eighth-round TKO victory over Miguel Flores (29-6-1, 13 KOs) to open the main DAZN telecast. Woodard knocked Flores down three times in a fight that saw blow-for-blow action throughout the eight rounds.
