Add FightsATW on GoogleO’Shaquie Foster (24-3, 12 KOs) is scheduled to make the first defense of his WBC super featherweight title against Raymond Ford (18-1-1, 8 KOs) on Saturday night. However, there is one fight that still makes his eyes glisten, a potential Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) showdown.
Talking to DAZN News, he delved into his plan to use Ford as a stepping stone towards Stevenson.
“I feel like I put myself in the best position to make that happen and that’s by fighting his son May 30,” he said. “Once I handle my business there, it’s going to be natural that the fans and the world is going to look to him and be like ‘Alright, what you doing next? What you got going? Are you going to send him a contract?’”

The “father and son” thing is basically trash talk aimed at Ford and Stevenson’s close relationship. Foster has repeatedly mocked Ford as being Shakur’s protégé, saying Ford is always around Stevenson, trains with him, takes advice from him, and has much of Team Shakur helping him prepare.
The deeper reason is that Foster‘s real target has always been Stevenson. Foster has been calling for that fight for a long time and believes Stevenson has avoided him. He views Ford as part of Shakur’s inner circle, along with Richardson Hitchins and others, and has accused them of acting like a team working against him. Foster even nicknamed them the “Fake Avengers.”
And he is pretty confident about what would happen once he faces Stevenson.
“If we’re going to be across from each other and we both got great defense, now it’s going to come down to the other stuff,” Foster exclaimed confidently. “And I got more in my arsenal than him when it comes to offense-wise, so that’s why I know I can beat him. And he knows that.”
“Make It Look Worse”
Another bone that Foster has to pick with the trio (Stevenson, Hitchins and Ford) is his absolute annoyance at their sparring pictures. According to him, they end up emulating the Avengers without having what it takes to beat him.
“It was Shakur, Ray and Hitchins. He was over there. Me and him had a little back and forth the other day. But nah, definitely. They over there acting like the Avengers,” he said. “I really don’t care who he’s sparring over there. But don’t post pictures like y’all the Avengers or something because at the end of the day, when I beat you, it’s going to make it look worse on all y’all.”
