Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero Reveals Why He Keeps ‘Getting Swarmed at Fights’

WBA super-lightweight title holder Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero (15-1, 13 KOs) is gearing up for an inside-the-ring tango against Isaac Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 30, 2024. Meanwhile, there is no denying that Romero has remained outspoken for a major part of his career. Which has, in turn, often put him on the wrong side of the boxing community. In fact, he left no stone unturned while revealing why he continues to get “swarmed at fights.”

Romero was recently in an interview with Elie Seckbach of ES News. In conversation, Seckbach asked him why people in the boxing community, especially the fighters themselves, had a disinclination towards him and enquired if he “pushed their buttons.” Romero responded by mentioning that he had become a champion with 12 fights under his belt. A milestone that he repeated by becoming a champion once again after winning his 16th fight.

“I am the most outspoken boxer. Do you see any other fighters, with the exception of people who are actual superstars, getting swarmed at fights? No, you do not!” he said.

He further went on to say that most fighters were incapable of handling the energy that he brings to the room. “They are just mad cuz I walk into every room, I walk in with the biggest d*ck energy there is. And the thing is, they can’t compete with it. I have big d*ck energy, that’s all it is,” he said.

“I’m Gonna Stay World Champ”

Meanwhile, it seems like Romero is confident about his performance against Cruz. While talking about his future opponent, Romero took a dig at his nickname ‘Pitbull’ and even referred to him as ‘Chihuahua.’

“This is gonna be Rolly versus the Chihuahua in the ring on March. I’m gonna stay world champ and be the first superstar on Prime Video,” Romero said.  “Just make sure you buy your tickets or tune in on pay-per-view; don’t miss this one.”

Cruz, on the other hand, was all praise for Romero and mentioned that he was excited to get a shot at the world title. “I’ve worked extremely hard to earn this shot. I’ve tried to fight other big names, but ‘Rolly’ was the only one to step up and accept the challenge. He’s got power and courage,” he said.
