Ryan Garcia Opens Up About Becoming ‘More Calm’ While Calling Out Jake Paul

Ryan Garcia (24-1-1, 20 KOs) is focusing on becoming a calmer individual.

‘King Ryan’ is currently gearing up for a showdown against Japanese kickboxer Rukiyan Anpo (27-8-1, 14 KOs) on December 30. However, barely a few months prior, he was in the midst of controversy from the PED fiasco, which led to his win against Devin Haney (31-0-1, 15 KOs) getting overturned due to his unhinged antics on social media, pushing him further down the depths. And now, with a new fight just around the corner, Garcia revealed that he is a changed man. Moreover, he has even hinted at a potential Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) fight.

Garcia was recently in an interview with Ariel Helwani. In conversation, he opened up about how his life has changed since April.

“You know, just got to look back and think. Maybe I could have, maybe as far as the fight, could’ve probably taken it a little bit more serious. As far as everything that happened after, you know I was going through as hard time in my life. I’m thankful that I got through that moment in my life. And I’m much more calm and I think that’s the way I want to live,” he said. “Not so much craziness in my life. It’s not good for me. This is a much more balanced part of my life.”

Garcia admitted that while he did not see it then, the fact that his antics and the controversy surrounding him affected the people close to him became a major turning point in his life. He mentioned that the issues kept piling on one after the other, which would have taken a major toll on anyone. Meanwhile, Garcia also named Paul as one of the potential opponents that he wishes to face in the near future.

“You know, it could be against Jake Paul, we don’t know. He was trying to beat up on Uncle Mike. We said we would run it one day, kinda gave birth to his boxing career. So I’m here to end it. If I fight Jake Paul, I’ll be at like 185. I think they generally think that I’ll be too small. But, like I said, I think skills pay the bills,” he added.

‘It’s A Little Bit Personal Now”

Garcia, however, has not forgotten his fight and his potential rematch against Haney, and it now looks like the beef has extended beyond the professional realm. “It’s a little bit personal now,” he said while talking to Helwani. “He sued me after the fight. It’s a real legitimate lawsuit that I’m going through. I think the rematch would be huge. They think I cheated; they feel that way. Let’s run it again.”
