Ryan Garcia: ‘Ryan Garcia vs. Oscar De La Hoya At This Point’

The saga continues between Golden Boy Promotions Chairman & CEO Oscar De La Hoya and his fighter Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), who are again at odds over a fight. Garcia took to X and first posted, “No Ramirez. Let’s make that clear”. Then he posted “Ryan Garcia vs. Oscar De La Hoya at this point.” This was in reaction to yesterday’s post by De La Hoya, where he first said, “All of these fighters pricing themselves out!!” then followed it with “Looking like Ryan Garcia vs. Jose Ramirez is getting close and happening.”

The miscommunication between Garcia and De La Hoya has a long history. They’ve gone back and forth publicly and privately, which has led to lawsuits. The most recent lashing out from Garcia was during the press conference for his last fight against Oscar Duarte, where he spoke about his Promoter not believing in him and had other not-so-pleasant things to say while De La Hoya was standing right behind him.

All looked to be forgiven after the fight, and when Garcia said he wanted the Devin Haney fight, De La Hoya went on a DAZN interview saying he got his orders and would make the Haney fight. Then Garcia pivoted towards a fight with WBA junior welterweight champion Rolando Romero, and that looks to have fallen apart, which prompted De La Hoya to post about fighters pricing themselves out. Shortly after, it was De La Hoya who put it out to the public that a fight was being negotiated with the newly signed Jose Ramirez.

It’s been a strained relationship that will likely land the Promoter and fighter either back in court or Garcia staying on the shelf until his contract is up next year. Either way, the situation continues to get messy as the months go by, which isn’t good for either of them
