All week in Las Vegas, Nevada, the chatter at press events centered on whether there would be any weigh-in issues on Friday. Those questions have now been answered, as Ryan Garcia (145.5) and Conor Benn (146) both came in under the 147-pound limit, making Saturday’s WBC welterweight title fight official.

Garcia remains a 3-1 betting favorite, but with Benn making weight, those lines could shift slightly before Saturday’s fight. This fight has picked up considerable steam and is shaping up to be a monster night in Las Vegas.

In other news related to this card, Don King issued the following statement in a press release regarding WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian. “Promoter Don King has said that the WBC is not going to sanction Noel Mikaelian’s Saturday night fight with Jai Opetaia in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday night.”

It’s weird that this statement didn’t come from the WBC first but came from Don King. It’ll be interesting to see how the WBC responds and what their next steps will be.
