OLEKSANDR USYK vs TYSON FURY 2 LIVE ROUND-BY-ROUND COVERAGE

Round 1:Â Fury came out from the start on the front foot and leading with his left jab. On occasion, Fury slipped in a straight right hand which stopped Usyk in his tracks. On the other hand, Usyk was moving a lot and changing the levels of his punches. Fury was the busier fighter in the opening round.

Round 2:Â Usyk wasted no time in dedicating his offense to Fury’s body. Usyk landed some hard body shots that made Fury back up. When Usyk would come in, Fury would land a counter right hand. Usyk was in complete control until the last ten seconds of the round when Fury landed a big right hand that stunned him.

Round 3:Â It was a high level chess match type of round. Fury kept switching from conventional to southpaw which saw him land some good, clean punches. Usyk was using great footwork to land his overhand left and a right jab to the body.

Round 4:Â Usyk began to crouch down and land that big overhand left. In the middle of the round, Usyk did just that and landed two huge left hands that rocked Fury. Although Fury was buzzed, he came right back with a hard, straight right hand that then buzzed Usyk. It was a great, close round.

Round 5:Â Fury had a bounce back round as he flicked his left jab and landed hard, straight right hands. Fury landed a right uppercut to Usyk’s body that nearly folded the Ukrainian. Fury controlled the majority of the round while Usyk smiled at the punches landed on him.

Round 6:Â Usyk was doing a ton of movement and feints throughout the round. Fury landed a few of his left jabs but a Usyk overhand left with about a minute remaining hurt Fury. Although Fury would shrug it off, Usyk would land another two consecutive overhand lefts that landed cleanly which had Fury hurt again.

Round 7:Â Being that the fight was being fought at such a high pace, Fury took a breather throughout the round as Usyk kept landing his right jab and forcing Fury to think. Usyk landed a straight left hand that buzzed Fury again but he was able to lean on Usyk to survive the round.

Round 8:Â Usyk continued his control of the fight and increased changing the levels of his punches. Fury was off balance throughout the round. Usyk invited Fury to come inside as Usyk kept doing what he wanted throughout the round.

Round 9: Fury had a much better round and forced Usyk to move more than what he wanted to at this point of the fight. Towards the end of the round, Usyk kept landing the big left hand as Fury was taking visibly deep breaths. it was a hard round to score but Usyk slightly won it for me.

Round 10:Â Fury went right back to his uppercuts and when they missed, he held and leaned on Usyk. Fury used every bit of his weight advantage to try and wear out Usyk. Again, towards the end of the round, Usyk rallied back but a few of the punches missed with Fury using some good head movement.

Round 11:Â Usyk used his speed to dominate the round as Fury could not deflect all of the punches that were coming at him. Usyk clearly won the round but with ten seconds left, Usyk walked into a Fury right uppercut that stopped him in his tracks.

Round 12:Â The last round was super close. Usyk and Fury both had their moments as Usyk landed a straight left hand that rocked Fury but then Fury landed an uppercut that did the same to Usyk.

FightsATW and the ringside judges saw the fight exactly the same: 116-112 for Usyk. Down the stretch, Usyk closed the show more than Fury did. The extra weight on Fury zapped his stamina in the championship rounds, clearing the path for Usyk to dominate. Usyk earned the clear, unanimous decision that he was likely aiming for.
