O’Shaquie Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) is fresh off an impressive victory against Raymond Ford (18-2-1, 8 KOs). However, according to Foster, the win not only allowed him to retain his WBC super featherweight title, but also helped him instill an inherent fear in the heart of Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs).

In conversation with the Ring Magazine, Foster seemed exceedingly eager to jeer Stevenson, accusing him of being “salty” after his friend (Ford) got beaten.

“Oh, man. I was just ready. I was ready for whatever. I knew he was going to be salty, mad. I beat his son, son. And he did all that trying to help him. Him and his people, they did all that trying to help him to beat me,” he said. “And, you know, I just showed them where my greatness at.”

Against Ford, Foster turned in one of his better recent performances. While the fight was competitive early on, Foster’s timing, ring IQ, and counterpunching took over in the second half, earning him a majority-decision victory. Foster has been chasing a fight with Stevenson for months, and after beating Ford, he immediately called Stevenson into the ring. Foster believes Stevenson was upset watching his friend lose and didn’t give him proper respect after the win.

His view is that whenever a real fight gets close, Stevenson finds a reason to move in another direction. While Stevenson and his supporters reject that narrative, Foster does not shy away from using words like “scared” and “running.”

“And I think all them emotions, he got it with the woo. I think it’s cuz he’s scared now. I think he know that the walls is closing in and that the fans and the world is going to be asking for that fight now. And now he gonna have to show the world. They gonna find out the real him,” he said.

“We Real Men”

Foster apparently is ready to make any sacrifice to face Stevenson inside the ring. Talking during the same interview, he mentioned that he is ready to fight at any weight.

“Yeah. No, I mean we could do it 140, 135. It don’t matter. And, like I said, I don’t need no rehydration clause or none of that. We real men and we make weight and we fight at wherever we come in at,” he said.
