‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) is gearing up to make one of the worst decisions of his life as he prepares to face ‘The Baddest Man on The Planet’ Mike Tyson (50-6-2, 44 KOs) on July 20, 2024. With his online taunts and antics, it certainly looks like Paul has been taking the idea of facing one of the most feared names in boxing rather lightly. Podcaster Joe Rogan is certain that Paul will “have a recognition” once he steps inside the ring with Tyson.
Talking at an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, host and namesake Rogan urged the YouTuber turned boxer to pull out of the fight.
“I don’t give a f*ck if he’s 55, that’s still Mike Tyson. He trains with Rafael Cordeiro, who’s a legend in MMA. He runs Kings Mixed Martial Arts. Rafael is a world-renowned trainer. When you see him holding the mitts for Tyson and, Tyson is smashing the mitts. Jesus! That guy can still f*ck you up,” he said.
While Tyson’s raw power reigns supreme, the former heavyweight champion has also maintained his ungodly speed. Rogan pointed out that Tyson’s nimble footwork combined with the power that earned him the ‘Iron’ moniker would prove too much for Paul to handle.
“When they were training Mike for that Roy Jones fight, they were using state-of-the-art science. I don’t give a f*ck if he’s 55 years old that guy will hurt you. If Jake Paul’s on the other side of the ring and he sees Mike Tyson bobbing and weaving he’s going to have a recognition,” Rogan mentioned. “He’s going to look over and go, ‘Oh my God, that’s really Mike Tyson.’”
Tyson’s brain damage concerns
A doctor has warned the champ that he could suffer brain damage if he returns to the ring. Fans have remained concerned about Tyson’s well-being ahead of the Paul fight. However, his trainer, Rafael Cordeiro, attempted to allay their fears while on The MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani.
“I believe we don’t have to be concerned about it. We’re talking about a two-time world champion,” he said. “He’s fought against the best guys in the world. When he steps inside the ring, he knows what to do. It’s not something new for Mike, and this fight is no different.” Cordeiro mentioned that Tyson has been working hard every day and is preparing to knock Paul out on fight night.
