With the WBC lightweight title fight between champion Lamont Roach Jr and William Zepeda just under two months away, it was made official by Golden Boy Promotions on Wednesday.

In May, FightsATW reported that the fight between Roach (25-1-3, 10 KOs) and Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) was signed and that the venue would likely be in Las Vegas, NV. Golden Boy announced that the fight will indeed be in Las Vegas, with The Theater at Virgin Hotels as the host venue. The card will be part of the new boxing series The Fight, a partnership between TNT Sports and DAZN. The event will be broadcast on TNT and truTV in the U.S. and on DAZN worldwide.

Per the press release, “The general on-sale for Roach Jr vs. Zepeda begins Friday, June 5th at 10:00 am PT and is priced at $300, $200, $150, $75, $50, and $30 plus applicable fees. Tickets can be purchased at AXS.com or GoldenBoy.com. Fans can access the special pre-sale on Thursday, June 4 with code: GBPVIP.”

Roach has been chomping at the bit to get back into the ring after back-to-back draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz. This is what he had to say now that the fight has been formally announced:

This is my fourth consecutive world title fight coming up in a different weight class,” said Roach Jr. “No doubt, I am bringing boxing back, and I’m coming for the top spot. I want the P4P belt layer.”

Zepeda is getting another shot at the WBC lightweight title after losing a unanimous decision to Shakur Stevenson in July. He has a chance to bounce back from that loss and win the lightweight title. Here is what Zepeda said ahead of his second crack at the WBC title.

We’ve been working hard since my last fight. We’re at the forefront of the lightweight division, and we know every opponent at this level presents a serious challenge,” said Zepeda. “Once again, we’ve been given the opportunity to fight for a world championship, and we’re ready to show the world exactly who ‘El Camarón’ Zepeda is. I hope Lamont comes fully prepared, because we’re going to put on a great show for the fans.

This fight on TNT Sports and truTV is perfect for those platforms. Getting smaller shows on major networks is how you grow the sport and develop new stars for the future.
