Add FightsATW on GoogleSports streaming platform DAZN continues to make waves in 2026, announcing Friday that it signed WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) to an exclusive multi-fight deal.
This deal comes months after Teofimo Lopez signed directly with DAZN, and industry chatter has suggested other stars could do the same. It’s an interesting move, since fighters who sign directly with DAZN aren’t tied to a specific promoter, giving them the flexibility to fight on any promotion currently on DAZN. Also, if other platforms want to make super fights, DAZN can approve or deny them without a middleman.
This is somewhat similar to fighters signing exclusively with HBO and Showtime in yesteryear, but the only difference now is that most promoters are under DAZN, so there shouldn’t be much politics involved in making fights.
This deal comes after Mike Coppinger reported that Haney has agreed to fight IBF welterweight Liam Paro, which could happen in December.
Here is what Haney said in a DAZN press release about the signing:
“I’m at a point in my career where I want the biggest challenges and the fights the fans want to see,” said Devin Haney. “I’m excited to partner with DAZN. This agreement removes any doubt or uncertainty about my ability to make the major fights in boxing. I’m in position to fight anyone, and I’m focused, motivated and ready for whoever is next.”
If the Haney-Paro fight happens and Ryan Garcia vs. Teofimo Lopez does as well, the winners could face each other for the undisputed welterweight crown late in 2027. There are potentially exciting times coming up at 147, so let’s hope the fights that the fans want to see continue to get made.
