TNA Thursday Night iMPACT 7/9 Results: Xia Brookside Defeats Lei Ying Lee Again to Retain TNA Knockouts Gold

Two title matches were featured on TNA “Thursday Night iMPACT” from the Broadview Center in Albany. Xia Brookside made her first TNA Knockouts World Championship defense against Lei Ying Lee, while The Hardys put the TNA World Tag Team Championship at stake against The Great Hands. The TNA Knockouts TV Championship tournament also continued.

Jason Hotch got in a headlock on Jeff Hardy and pulled his hair. Jeff turned the tables and took Hotch down with a shoulder block. Matt got the tag, and the Hardys stomped Hotch in the corner. Jeff was back in, and he delivered an elbow drop.

Matt was tagged in, while John Skyler was the legal man for The Great Hands. Hotch grabbed Matt’s hair from the apron, which allowed Skyler to chop block one half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions. Hotch was back in, and he went for a submission, but Matt sent him crashing into the turnbuckle before Jeff made the hot tag.

Jeff went for Whisper in the Wind, but The Great Hands got out of the way and landed The Favor. Matt disrupted the pin attempt and planted Hotch with the Side Effect. Jeff nailed Skyler with Twist of Fate before Matt had one of his own. Jeff capped it off with a Swanton Bomb for the finish.

Lei Ying Lee Shares Last Words for Xia Brookside Before Title Rematch

Lei Ying Lee was interviewed by Gia Miller backstage. Lee admitted losing the TNA Knockouts World Championship at “Slammiversary” was painful. She said Xia Brookside wanted a title more than a friendship. She promised to give her heart, honor, and spirit to regain the gold.

Moose Begins Rivalry With AJ Francis

Frankie Kazarian hosted another edition of “The King’s Speech.” His special guest for the night was Moose, who ended his rivalry with The System at “Slammiversary.” Moose said it was the most emotional night of his life because Eddie Edwards made things personal with his family. Moose said he’ll cherish sharing the ring with his child and wife forever.

Kazarian claimed Moose traumatized his family. Moose said his family is fine, and he’s focusing on moving on and facing anyone because he’s the “Face of the Franchise.” Kazarian gave Moose props for being dominant for 10 years.

The two began arguing over who is the true face of TNA. Kazarian asked Moose if he’s stupid for bragging in front of a “king.” Moose questioned who crowned Kazarian in the first place. He then said while others chased checks, he made TNA his playground. Kazarian then ran through his own accolades.

Moose said while Kazarian is annoying, he does respect him. He suggested a “dream match” against Kazarian since the two have yet to collide in a singles match. Kazarian said he has no interest in that match. Instead, Kazarian said he spoke to someone who agrees that Moose should’ve been taken out for good by The System.

AJ Francis then made his way out with Expressions. Francis claimed Moose left the NFL before he entered the league because he was scared of him. Moose challenged Francis to a match. Expressions accepted on behalf of his client for next week.

Elijah’s Big Goal Involves TNA World Title

Elijah was backstage playing his guitar. He said his goal has always been to win the TNA World Championship. Elijah hopes to give his fans something to look forward to, and holding the top male prize in TNA would fit the bill. He promised to be headed for the promised land.

Indi Hartwell vs. Vicki Venuto – TNA Knockouts TV Title Tournament Match

Indi Hartwell and Vicki Venuto shook hands before the match began. Hartwell looked for an early pin. Venuto kicked her opponent in the midsection, but she eventually ran into a big boot. Venuto sent Hartwell crashing into the ropes before landing a suplex.

Venuto kept Hartwell grounded with a headlock before sending her crashing into the turnbuckles. Hartwell got popped by a basement dropkick. Hartwell fired up with two clotheslines and a spinebuster. Venuto avoided Hurts Donut and hit a cutter for a near fall.

Hartwell countered a reverse DDT into a pin attempt. She then caught Venuto in Hurts Donut to move on in the TNA Knockouts TV Title tournament.

Fabian Aichner Sets Sights on TNA X Division Championship

Cameras followed Fabian Aichner getting in some reps at a gym. He discussed his upbringing in Italy. Aichner recalled watching wrestling for the first time after skiing. Aichner said his next goal is winning the TNA X Division Championship.

Ricky Sosa and Leon Slater vs. The System (Bear Bronson and Brian Myers) vs. The Righteous

Leon Slater and Brian Myers tied up to get the match going. Myers was popped by a reverse enzuigiri. Dutch was tagged in, but he ate a back elbow. Ricky Sosa was in, and he teamed with Slater to send Dutch out of the ring with superkicks. Sosa dove on The System, while Slater launched his body at The Righteous before a commercial break.

Back from the break, Dutch popped Slater at the center of the ring before Bear Bronson slapped Dutch’s back to make the tag. Dutch chopped Bronson in the chest before the two were separated. Bronson hit Slater with a choke bomb, but Sosa broke up the pin.

Myers was the legal man again, but he ran into a side kick when attempting the Roster Cut. Sosa and Bronson were in. Sosa ended up taking out everyone before lifting Bronson up and slamming him down for a full nelson bomb. He then nailed Bronson with a lionsault before Vincent disrupted the pin.

The System looked to double-team Sosa, but Slater made the save. Myers hit a spear on Vincent from the second rope. Dutch planted Myers with a sidewalk slam.

Slater took out Dutch and Bronson with Big Play Slater. Sosa then drilled Bronson with the Big Bang uppercut for the victory.

Ryan Nemeth Plans to Interrupt KC Navarro

Santino Marella was reacting to the previous match backstage before Daria Rae walked in. Ryan Nemeth approached Rae and complained about KC Navarro’s in-ring promo scheduled for later in the night. Rae told Nemeth that he can interrupt the segment if he feels the need to defend his family.

Jody Threat vs. Gabby Forza – TNA Knockouts TV Title Tournament Match

The two showed respect at the start of the match given their history outside of TNA Wrestling. Jody Threat tried a shoulder tackle, but Gabby Forza didn’t budge. Threat went for another with the same result. A third attempt ultimately took Forza down before Threat landed clubbing strikes in the corner.

Threat caught Forza in a crossface, but her opponent powered out of it by sending her crashing into the corner. Forza then charged in and targeted the midsection of Threat. Threat charged in, but Forza caught her in an Oklahoma Slam. Forza followed up with a Vader Bomb for a two-count.

Forza and Threat exchanged lariats, with neither competitor gaining an edge. Threat tripped her opponent on the middle rope and delivered double knees, followed by a German suplex. Threat leaped off the ring apron to connect with a cannonball. Back in the ring, Threat went high-risk, but she was popped with a huge lariat.

Forza then executed a powerslam. She landed a spinout rack bomb for a near fall. Forza went for another Vader Bomb, but Threat got her boots up. Forza was taken down by a crossbody. Threat then nailed Pop Shove It for the win.

Mustafa Ali was fixing his tie backstage. He said that he will address Order 4’s recent failings next week. Ali was talking to someone, but the camera didn’t reveal who it was.

Nic Nemeth Explains Why He Betrayed KC Navarro

KC Navarro was in the ring to address Nic Nemeth’s betrayal last week. Navarro said he learned a hard lesson after Nemeth hit him with Danger Zone. Navarro questioned what he did wrong. He said if Nemeth was a real man, he’d explain his actions face-to-face.

Nemeth’s music played, and the TNA World Champion made his entrance. Nemeth claimed he believed in Navarro, but he claimed the rising star didn’t deserve to stand near him. Nemeth said Navarro doesn’t have it. Navarro reminded Nemeth that he busted his tail for 11 years to sign his TNA deal.

Navarro then bragged about defeating Ryan Nemeth last week. Ryan ambushed Navarro before Nic entered the ring and told him that he never deserved to be in his shadow. Nic warned Navarro to drop the situation and leave him alone.

No DQ Match: Xia Brookside (c) vs. Lei Ying Lee – for the TNA Knockouts World Championship

Lei Ying Lee knocked Xia Brookside off the ring apron before the match started. The challenger delivered two pump kicks outside of the ring. She grabbed her fan and looked to hit Brookside, but her hand slapped the ring steps. Lee didn’t slow down, as she stomped the champion inside the ring. Brookside was dropped by a back elbow. Brookside exited the ring, but Lee took her out with a suicide dive prior to a commercial break.

Back from the break, Brookside gained some momentum by attacking Lee with a leather belt. A replay showed Brookside used the leather belt to target the challenger’s leg. Brookside looked for double knees, but she ran into the middle rope. Lee fired back with a dropkick. Lee’s injured knee from “Slammiversary” was still bothering her.

Lee landed 10 punches in the corner before hitting an exploder suplex. She tossed a few chairs and a kendo stick in the ring before grabbing a table. The table was set up outside of the ring. Lee bounced the champion’s head on the table twice. The challenger looked to powerbomb Brookside off the apron and onto the table, but Brookside avoided it. Lee got hit with a kendo stick several times. Brookside choked her former tag team partner with the weapon.

Brookside grabbed the TNA Knockouts World Championship and put it in the ring. She then flipped over the table before Lee took her out with a cannonball. Back in the ring, Lee delivered chair shots to the back of Brookside.

Lee stacked multiple chairs and went for a dive, but Brookside moved out of the way. She was then clocked with a belt shot, but the challenger kicked out. Lee went for a punch, but Brookside put the chair up. With Lee’s hand injured, Brookside capitalized with Darkside on the chair for the win.
